Changeling

In the summer of 1974 in Colorado's remote San Juan Mountains, famed monster hunter, Bifford Stone guides his increasingly frail, elderly father through dense aspen groves, searching for a lost piece of their family’s past.

A supernatural thriller that blends creature feature horror with deeply personal stakes, perfect for fans of Hellboy or The Dresden Files. Dark fantasy and paranormal adventure.

From Chapter One

“Goddamnit, Pop,” said Biff Stone, leaves crunching beneath each footfall. “We’re lost, aren’t we?”
Stone was a tall, ruggedly handsome man with broad shoulders, thick dark hair, and a glorious mustache that made other men feel somehow inadequate. “We’ve been wandering all over the mountainside for hours because you knew right where it was and now it’s damned near dark and you’re fucking lost.”
His father didn’t answer. Didn’t acknowledge Stone’s complaints at all. The old man stood in the midst of the aspen grove, naked as the day he was born, with his back to Stone and kept his silence. The old man’s nakedness was a circumstance Stone wasn’t crazy about, but he’d never had any control over who his father was or what he did. Why should that change now?
Stone was more troubled by the fact that the old man had gone quiet. He’d said nothing on the entire trek through the mountains. His last words had been in the hotel room back in Telluride.
“If she’s coming, she’ll meet me at the tree,” he’d said.

Praise
