Pulptropolis Media is an independent press run by one person — Barry K Gregory, DBA Pulptropolis Media, in Orlando, Florida, USA. This is the whole of what we do with your information.
We sell books. That’s it. We don’t sell, rent, trade, or otherwise profit from your personal information, and we never will. We don’t run advertising trackers. We don’t build profiles. We collect the few things needed to post you a book or send you an email, and nothing else.
What we collect
If you order a book
Your name, shipping address, billing address, email address, and what you ordered. WooCommerce requires the email address so it can send your order confirmation and shipping notice.
We never see your card number, expiry, security code, or bank details. Payment happens entirely inside PayPal — that information goes straight to them and never touches this website.
If you subscribe to The Dispatch
Your email address, and a first name if you give one. Our email provider records whether messages get opened and links get clicked, which is how we judge whether the newsletter is worth writing.
If you just visit
The web server keeps ordinary access logs — IP address, browser type, which pages were requested and when. Security software uses them to block brute-force login attempts and spam. That’s their only purpose.
There is no analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no Meta pixel, no advertising or cross-site tracking of any kind.
Cookies
Two kinds, both functional:
- Shopping and checkout. WooCommerce sets cookies to remember your cart and carry you through checkout. Block these and the store stops working.
- Newsletter form. Our email provider may set one so you aren’t shown a signup form you’ve already used.
No advertising cookies. Nothing that follows you to other websites.
Who else sees it
Three services, each seeing only what it needs:
- PayPal — takes the payment. Receives your payment and billing details directly.
- Kit (formerly ConvertKit) — sends the newsletter. Holds your email address and engagement records.
- SiteGround — hosts the site. Stores the website and its database, order records included.
Shipping carriers get your name and address, because a parcel has to be addressed to somebody.
That’s the complete list. We will disclose information beyond it only if compelled by valid legal process.
Where your information lives
Order details stay inside WooCommerce on our host. We do not export them to spreadsheets, upload them anywhere, keep a separate customer list, or run a CRM. Your email address for the newsletter lives in Kit. There is no fourth copy of anything.
Buying our books elsewhere
Some titles sell through Amazon and other retailers. Buy there and they are the seller — their privacy policy governs, not ours. We get sales figures. We do not get your name, address, or email.
How long we keep it
- Order records — as long as tax and accounting rules require, currently seven years.
- Newsletter subscription — until you unsubscribe, then a short suppression record so we don’t accidentally email you again.
- Server logs — rotated and deleted within weeks.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy. You can stop the newsletter from any issue with one click, and it takes effect immediately.
Email Pulptropolis Media. One person reads that inbox and will action it. No charge, no forms, and you don’t have to explain why.
The one thing we may not be able to delete is a completed order, which tax law requires us to keep. If you ask, we’ll tell you exactly what’s being retained and why.
If you are in the UK or EEA
Our lawful bases are contract (fulfilling an order you placed), consent (the newsletter, withdrawable any time), and legitimate interests (site security). You may object to the last of those, and you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Your information is stored in the United States. Where our providers move data across borders they rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent lawful mechanism.
If you are in California
You have the right to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA/CPRA define those terms — so there is nothing to opt out of. We won’t treat you differently for asking.
Children
These books are written for adults and this store isn’t aimed at children. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us something, email us and it’s gone.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS, administrative access is restricted and monitored, and card data never reaches our servers. No system is perfect. If we ever find a breach affecting your information, we’ll tell you directly rather than bury a notice on a page.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we’ll say so in the newsletter instead of quietly editing the page.
